Telerehabilitation

Telerehabilitation is the rehabilitation services offered via technological tools, whether by video conference, telephone or email exchange. Intergo has used telerehabilitation interventions for several years, but this type of intervention has become more prevalent since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What issues can benefit from telerehabilitation?

  • Mental health issues : anxiety and/or depressive symptoms, burnout, adjustment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc.
  • Physical health issues : chronic pain management, pain management following an accident or injury, mobility limitations, etc.

How telerehabilitation works

Case support

Contact by the therapist in charge of the file by phone or email to explain their role, present the therapeutic modalities, validate the availability of video conferencing platforms and make an appointment.

Initial assessment

A 1-to-2-hour session that consists of a personalized interview in accordance with the client's problem, including questionnaires to be completed electronically. In most cases, this session is accompanied by the teaching of simple self-management strategies for the client's most pressing issues.

Interventions

Development of treatment objectives, type of intervention and frequency/duration of treatment in collaboration with the client. Interventions are varied and may include health condition management strategies, an individualized exercise program, and education about encountered symptoms. Some group interventions are also offered, including yoga for relaxation purposes. The interventions are adapted to the client's specific problem and can transition to clinical sessions if necessary.

Telerehabilitation in ergonomics

Some employees with special medical conditions may benefit from a consultation with an ergonomist or certified virtual occupational therapist when face-to-face is not possible. With photos of the workstation to be evaluated beforehand, our assigned professional will set up a video conference meeting with the client and will interview them to target the problems and make the necessary corrections to make the workstation fully functional, taking into account the type of work performed and the equipment used.

Best practices in telerehabilitation

At Intergo, compliance with best practices is a fundamental value that allows us to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our interventions. We apply this same consideration in our telerehabilitation interventions and ensure that our standards of practice, ethics and excellence are applied.
